The psychological game “From heaven to earth: about working without illusions” helps to look at work in hiring and freelancing without “rose-colored glasses”, to find support and answers to questions related to work in different versions: how to find meaning again in hiring, how to make the transition from hiring to freelancing, how to gain a foothold in freelancing, how to save yourself and your fortune when you work a lot.
The metaphor of the game is the descent of the participant from heaven to earth. “Heaven” is a world of illusions and foggy clouds in which the participant resides, and this prevents him from seeing the real picture of affairs. “Earth” is reality. During the game, the participant finds solid ground under his feet, step by step clarifying the “blind spots”. Adaptive skills necessary for effective functioning both in hiring and freelancing, individual strategies of action, self-reliance are formed.
The game has three independent locations: “Prison” of the hired worker, “Paradise Island” of the freelancer, “ Sanatorium” is a place to find a balance between intense work and relaxation. There is also an additional location “Escape”. The choice of game location depends on the participant’s request. The game can be played both in a group and in an individual format. In a group game, the leader can use all four locations at the same time.
In “Prison”, participants create their own “Rules of Survival”, which will help an employee adapt, or make a decision to change work or change its format .
On the Freelancers’ Paradise Island, participants create a “Guide”. This is a system of specific actions that help you find your place in the sun and gain a foothold in freelancing.
In the “Sanatorium”, participants fill out a “Work Capacity Sheet”, which helps to maintain working capacity even when working with double load.
Those who choose the “Escape” location develop an “Escape Plan” that allows them to see how to leave their work-prison and move to the Freelancers’ Paradise Island.
Based on the results of the game, the participants:
– will understand exactly what actions (or lack thereof) led to the result that they have today;
-they will see their real professional situation, without blinders and blind spots;
– fill the content of their work with value and meaning;
– will determine specific steps that will lead them to the desired state;
-overcome fears that hinder the path to career goals;
– realize what skills they lack to work effectively;
– get acquainted with the experience of other participants, which can become an impetus for their own transformation.
The game is intended for use by psychologists, coaches, career consultants, and gaming practitioners.
