“Key to Your Heart” Metaphorical Cards

Metaphorical cards that help you hear yourself

Key to Your Heart is a deck of 32 metaphorical associative cards (MAC cards) created by Tetiana Sherstiuk, an art therapist, fairy tale therapist and Ebru painting master. Every card is an original Ebru painting: colour patterns made on the surface of water. The cards have no “correct” meanings. You look at an image, notice what you see and feel, and the answer comes from you.

Who it is for

• Psychologists and art therapists. A projective tool that helps clients talk about what is hard to put into words. Works in individual sessions and in groups.
• Coaches. A fast way into goals, values and resources without long questionnaires.
• Anyone on a path of self-discovery. Ten minutes with one card instead of hours of overthinking.
• A meaningful gift for a friend who journals, meditates or is going through change.

8 themes of the deck

• Portrait of the inner world and seeds of individuality
• Field of ideas and goals
• Psychological immunity and safety
• My desires and my dreams
• My family and my lineage
• The master of money and my image of abundance
• Pattern of relationships and the power of love
• My character and my main life force

How to work with the cards

1. Name a question or a situation.
2. Take a card, face up or face down.
3. Describe what you see: shapes, colours, movement.
4. Ask yourself: what does this image say about my situation? What do I feel?
5. Write down one small step you will take.

Why Ebru

Ebru is the traditional art of painting on water. No pattern can be repeated or fully controlled, just like our associations. That is why the images stay open to any interpretation and feel calming to look at.
